Art Primo Solid Paint Marker (Review)
Today's product review is on the Solid Paint Marker or "Streaker" as its commonly known by Art Primo. I specifically enjoy the silver which is shown above, but Art Primo has streakers in a wide array of colors for all your bombing needs. For those who have used Sharpie Mean Streaks, I find the Art Primo streaker most comparable. Historically Mean Streaks have been most popular amongst graffiti writers and so many solid markers made are made to be similar to Sharpie's product. The Mean Streak has become more rare over the years and so the Art Primo streaker is a great alternative.
Solid markers are designed for industrial use as they can adhere to surfaces that are oily or that have been written on already by other writers. They also can withstand high and low temperature surfaces, so if you are bombing in the snow or on hot metal, this is the marker you want to use. For this reason, streakers are popular with writers who use train monikers, a famous example would be Bozo Texino.
Personally, I was disappointed when Art Primo closed their store in San Francisco, as I am based in Oakland, CA and it was a great place to get streakers right away when needed. But as previously mentioned, there is a wide array of Art Primo solid paint markers available on their web site at for sale. Art Primo does have their flagship store in Seattle, which is still open to the public, so if you live in Washington State and want to avoid shipping charges and waiting, give them a visit.
So, whether you are all about trains or you catch wreck mainly in the streets, this is a product you should consider giving a try. They do not fall apart or melt easily like other attempts at solid markers by other companies (which will go unmentioned). They can be split at home to make multi color streakers, which is a technique we will cover in a different blog post. And, as I said, I think the silver version was a great innovation as it pops nicely on all surfaces and is great when you don't have any silver paint or Krink on hand. A solid product from Art Primo, check it out today and Stay Up!
